If the male is a Breeding Plumages you might notice a Head shimmering green and the  purple. Perhaps a  Long crest green, purples. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;White stripes extending the side of chests; black bar behind it and a the  Thin white line extending from bill, over the eyes, to the back of the crests. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Throat white two finger-like the  projections onto face and necks. Bill red, with thin yellow base and dark tips. The eyes will be red.  Chest the  deep reddish. Sides yellowish gold, bordered black and surrounded by white lines.  Back black metallic sheen. Under tail reddish violet. Tail black bronzy sheen. If nest boxes are placed too close simultaneously, most females will lays eggs and in the nests of other females. These so-called “dump nests” are capable of containing 40 eggs.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;• The Wood Ducks and is a very accepted game and birds, and is only second to the Mallard in numbers shot each year in the United States.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;• The Wood Ducks usually nests in trees and near waters, occasionally directly over waters, but additional times up to a couple miles away. After hatching, the ducklings will jump down from the nest trees to make their way to water. Their Mother calls them to her, but doesn’t and help them.
